There it is, the balls that have been on my mind for months. Don’t ask me why, I just get this way about kitchen gadgets. I get a particular item stuck in my head and I convince myself that no other tool will work. Why a ball whisk you ask? Lets find out.
Well probably because everyone has a french whisk if not french than a balloon or piano whisk (all basically the same). My mom has a twirl whisk, you know the springy one that was fun to play with when you where young but got so gooped up that it retained most of what you where whisking. A flat whisk you say, I think not, I can just use a spoon. A couple other contenders are the Balloon with ball and Double Balloon, I’ll use them if you clean em. If whisks fought in the Thunderdome the ball whisk would be the one that exits. The latest ones have Teflon coated balls making them safe for nonstick pans. Since there are no loops they are super easy to clean, the weight of the balls makes the individual balls oscillate and improves whisking performance. The fact that there are no loops also makes it easy to get into the corners of your pan.
So why don’t I have this wonderful holy grail of whisking excellence? Simple, I can’t find one locally, I know crazy, why aren’t the local stores carrying them? I truly believe this is a conspiracy perpetrated by the non-ball whisk manufacturer’s association. I would order on online but I don’t have a line on the perfect ball whisk and like to hold my balls before I use them. Enjoy the whisk gallery.
