Backyard smoking performance not what you want? Get a Chubby!

chubby

A Backwoods Chubby upright water cooker that is!  Nothing I like more at Flavourgasmic than smoking and this entry level model from Backwoods Smoker is still big enough to swallow up 12 slabs of baby back ribs, 8 slabs of St. Louis style ribs, 4 slabs of spare ribs, 2 to 3 large briskets or 4 to 6 Boston butts.  Able to hold approximately 10 pounds of charcoal the smoker will provide between 6-10 hours of cooking time depending on temperature.  Base price for the Chubby is $845, and goes up depending on features, such as the $275 BBQ Guru Computer control with Pit Viper fan.  Hit the link for more pictures and info.

Started in 1987 by Mike McGowan, Backwoods Smoker quickly gained a name when one of their smokers won the grand championship at the Memphis in May BBQ competition.  All of their smokers feature insulated double walls, full gaskets on the doors and high quality latches.  This translates into a smoker that will keep the heat and smoke in, even with the internal temp hitting 400 degreed F, the outside will stay cool to the touch.  Also featured on all models is a built in water pan between the fire pit and smoking chamber.  This insures that you have an excellent moist smoke to keep your meat from drying out.  Available in sizes from the little Chubby to the massive 1200lbs, $8000 whole hog smoker pictured below, Backwoods Smoker is sure to have something that will fit your smoking needs.
