If I could design a cooktop it would go something like this

cooksurface

Welcome to the future of cooktops.  It’s the aptly named Cooksurface by Fisher & Paykel.  It’s no secret that I’m not a big fan of electric cooktops.  I’m even less of a fan of cleaning gas cooktops, what with all their nooks and crannies like an English muffin.  Ultimately I accept the cleaning duties in exchange for the superior heating capabilities of gas.  What if I said you could have the cleaning ease of an electric with the bad assery of gas?  Read on!

This is Cooksurface!  Combining the performance of a gas cooktop with the easy to clean convenience of a ceramic cooktop, I may have a new girlfriend.  With three sets of hidden pan supports the Cooksurface will support a wide range of pans.  Simply turn the dial and the burner rises, ignites and is followed by the pan supports.  When not cooking the burners and the pan supports retract almost completely flush into the beautiful black ceramic glass surface.  Dial controls provide precise linear control and feature both audio and visual cues as to the burner setting.  No word on when or if this object of lust will be available, but I assure you, when it is I will be there.
