While checking on prices at Williams-Sonoma for the ‘wichcraft book, I stumbled across the ‘wichcraft Panini Spreads available exclusively at the aforementioned store for prices that are right in line with this retailer. Ok, anyone that shops at Williams-Sonoma already knows they tend to be a bit pricey and at $14.00 for 7.9oz these Panini Spreads are no exception. But at least these have the potential to taste great. Keep reading to see what’s available.

 From La Tienda
When I think of the cuisine of Spain one of the first things that inevitably comes to mind is Spanish Ham or jamón. While the word jamón in Spanish simply means ham, amongst English speakers it is specifically a reference to cured ham from Spain. Available in two primary varieties, jamón serrano (ham from the sierra or mountain) and jamón ibérico (ham that is at least 75% black Iberian pig) of the two the ibérico has a higher fat content when compared to serrano giving it a richer taste. Fortunately for us one purveyor, La Tienda, is providing us with a means to acquire not only these great Spanish hams but also many other Spanish foods and house wares. Keep reading to find out more.

After the overwhelming success of the whole chicken in a can, I went off on a magical journey through the exciting world of in a can food where I eventually ran into this. Its Yoder’s Bacon in a can, this 100% US bacon has a shelf life of over 10 years which it probably a lot longer than you would live after eating it. Apparently this marks a triumphant return for canned bacon after Celebrity brand canned bacon was axed (what where they crazy?) 20 years ago by Kmart, I guess this explains their finacial troubles. Available now exclusively through MREDepot. I feel there is nothing left for me to say other than hit the jump to see canned bacon in all it’s glory.

Welcome to the first of what will hopefully be many global eats articles, my hope is to feature interesting food items from around the world and introduce the purveyors of these unique products. Without further ado I bring you something from Africa, or more specifically the island of Madagascar. Started by two former Peace Corp volunteers who found themselves looking for a way to give back to the island and the people they grew to love, Madécasse, pronounced mah – DAY – cas, brings a renewable source of income to the Malagasy people and glorious chocolate to us. Hit the link to find out more.

According to the package Obama Fingers are “tender, juicy pieces of chicken breast, coated and fried,” which has to be yet another reason that people voted for him. The German poultry producer Sprehe sought to capitalize on Obama fever by introducing these presidential branded chicken fingers. “We noticed that American products and the American way of eating are trendy at the moment,” Judith Witting, sales manager for Sprehe, told SPIEGEL ONLINE. “Americans are more relaxed. Not like us stiff Germans, like (Chancellor Angela) Merkel”. Also included is a curry dipping sauce, but continue reading to see what I recommend to accompany these delectable digits.

It’s true, Himalayan salt is from Pakistan, why is it called Himalayan salt you ask? Easy, ”Pakistani salt” just doesn’t conjure up the same emotions, doesn’t sound as exotic, and is harder to sell, either way Himalayan salt is the marketing term given to salt coming from the Khewra Salt Mines located in Khewra, Pakistan, the second largest salt mines in the world. Ranging in color from white to pink to blood red the beautiful Himalayan salt is equally at home in your cooking as it is gracing a wall or table as a unique art piece. Continue reading to find out more about this beautiful salt from far off lands.

There it is folks, chicken in a can, but not just any chicken a whole freakin chicken and fully cooked no less. Having recently purchased squid in a can I thought I was prepared for most “in a can” foods, uh yeah not even close. Sent to me by a food in a can aficionado friend of mine this is just to good to pass up. If you think you have the stomach for it hit the jump to see what Sweet Sue is hiding inside her can.
